Watch me get high… up on a wall for the first time. If you’ve been here a while, you may remember my lifting days. I trained Olympic-style lifting from 2015-2018, and powerlifting from 2019-2023, and I competed in both sports. I was admittedly an a**hole in my 20s when it came to fitness. I believed lifting was the best / only way to get strong. I drank the lifting community Kool-Aid. I neglected to do any other form of fitness or take care of my body because lifting was always superior to me and I didn’t think I needed cardio or yoga. I was wrong as fuck. Cut to now, I’m just over a week away from turning 33, and over the last year I’ve dealt with more hip pain, lower back pain, shoulder pain, stiffness, soreness, weakness than ever. I believe it’s because I used to lift *heavy* and train somewhat competitively without doing anything else to take care of my body and it has all caught up to me. I have also just fallen out of love with weightlifting. It has been hard to admit this to myself, because lifting used to be my entire (annoying) personality a few years ago. So no longer enjoying lifting has felt a bit like an identity crisis, and my gym anxiety has come back with a vengeance. I admitted to myself that I didn’t enjoy lifting anymore and needed to try something new. So I’m trying to learn how to Boulder (partly bc my girlfriend loves it and I’m inspired by how excited it makes her). So I’m challenging myself with a new activity. And I can’t make the excuse that I’m “too old” to try something new because that’s some bullsh*t. I’ll share my progress here if you’re interested in my breath-y stories while I’m trying to figure out how to do this sport 🙃 #climbing #fitness #bouldering #rockclimbing

We’ve been buying a box of cereal every week just for fun, and the box of Fruity Pebbles we bought inspired several desserts so get ready for ‘em… The first - CEREAL MILK ROLLS. Like cinnamon rolls without the cinnamon, with Fruity Pebbles-flavored milk, and more cereal mixed into the cream cheese icing. I had to ask Meg to take the rest to work so neither of us would deal with the sugar stomach ache for days to come 😂 Adapted from a @butternutbakery cinnamon roll recipe 1 cup Fruity Pebbles 2 cups milk Combine fruity pebbles and milk in a bowl and let it sit in refrigerator for min. 1 hour. Pour the milk through a fine mesh sieve. Discard cereal matter. 4.5 cups AP flour 1/3 cup sugar 2 packets rapid rise yeast 1 tsp salt 1 1/2 cups cereal milk 6 tbsp unsalted butter 1 egg In a large bowl, whisk 2 cups flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. In a small sauce pan or microwave safe bowl, heat the cereal milk and butter until warm (not hot) and butter is mostly melted. Pour cereal milk and butter into dry ingredients. Add egg and mix. Add 2 more cups of flour & continue to mix. Then add 1/2 cup remaining flour & mix - it’ll be thick and sticky. Start kneading with your hands. Add 1/4-1/2 cup more of flour if dough is too sticky. Let it rest for 10 min. Place dough on lightly floured surface & roll it out into a large rectangle. 1/4 cup unsalted butter, room temp 1/2 cup light brown sugar Spread the butter onto the rolled out dough. Sprinkle brown sugar over the butter. Roll the dough into a log starting from the longer side. Cut the log in half, then cut each half in half, then each quarter into 3 rolls. Place rolls in a greased 9x13 baking dish & place in a warm spot, cover with a towel, and allow to rise for 1 hour. Preheat oven to 350F. Bake for 25-30 minutes. 4 oz cream cheese, room temp 1/4 cup unsalted butter, room temp 1 cup powdered sugar 1/4 cup Fruity Pebbles cereal Using a mixer, beat the cream cheese and butter together. Add powdered sugar and mix. Fold in the cereal. Spread cream cheese onto warm rolls, and enjoy! #dessert #baking #baked #munchies #cinnamonrolls
