Summer is right around the corner and with it an abundance of fruit. My son is currently snacking on some frozen blueberries, but come June he will be down by the blueberry bushes snacking away! Until then, the freezer is filled with frozen fruit, including this melon fruit ice! We love adding fruit to our drinks year-round for additional natural sweet flavor, but our favorite way to enjoy it is by freezing it first. This way our drinks aren't watered down and they are extra flavorful! What's your favorite fruit to add to drinks?; GO to my Profile + tap 🔗 + type “DIY Faux Concrete Planters” into the search bar. Over the years I have tried a variety of techniques to create faux concrete planters, from plaster of Paris to stucco, but the technique I repeatedly come back to is spray paint. It’s pretty quick, doesn’t easily come apart (like the plaster of Paris), and isn’t a pain to work with (like the stucco patch). One of the most viral summer tutorials on my blog was how to create DIY faux concrete planters. The plastic planters I DIYed looked identical to the real concrete planters that were going for over one hundred each. After years of them being out of stock, they were finally available again last year and IN GREY (last time they were brown which is why I painted them)!! But this time they sold out almost immediately. So I decided to try spray painting planters again, but with a slightly different technique. The original planters that I used had some texture so they only needed to be spray painted with gray paint (in a circular motion) to create the different gradients to make it look like concrete. This time I used shiny plastic planters, so spraying them grey would only make it look like a trash can, and nobody wants their plants to look like they are in the trash. So after some trial and error, I came up with a simple technique to turn smooth and shiny plastic planters into textured faux concrete planters. All of the details with extra tips and a step-by-step tutorial are in my blog post. ; GO to my Profile + tap 🔗 + type “Strawberry Fruit Leathers” into the search bar. Little Roger is absolutely obsessed with fruit. He would eat only fruit for every meal if he could, I couldn’t name a favorite as he loves them all!! While I originally shared this recipe in 2015 as a great way to use up excess strawberries (especially if you harvest more than you need while strawberry picking), that is no longer a problem in our home because our little one tries to consume every strawberry in sight. In years past, when making fruit leathers, I typically used plastic wrap as the base (the oven doesn’t get hot enough to melt the plastic) but I finally upgraded to these silicone baking mats and feel much better about baking fruit leathers on them for our family. And I absolutely love knowing exactly what is in these fruit rolls – strawberries and honey! What’s your favorite type of fruit leather? P.S. I have 2 more fruit leather recipes on my blog!

00:19GO to my Profile + tap 🔗 + type “DIY Fire Pit” into the search bar. We dreamed of adding a fire pit to this outdoor space for a couple of years and I was so excited when we (or more so he) built us one. Finding beautiful black wood outdoor chairs at a good price was a bit difficult, but we finally found some on sale for well under $100 each. Major score! Especially because a lot of the ones we found were double or well over double that cost. And those planters were a super exciting find too! I love concrete planters, but I didn’t have time to find plastic planters to recreate my viral DIY Faux Concrete Planters. So I was so excited when we found these planters that looked like concrete but without being heavy or expensive. And while we have sold this house and this space is being loved by a new family, we have already picked out a spot on our new land to build a fire pit! I received quite a few questions last year when posting, so I thought I’d answer some of them here. Q. “How will water drain since you have the polythene under?” A. We used landscape fabric, rainwater had no problem going through it as it is very porous. Q. “I love this idea but won’t it be hard to keep clean (leaves and debris) without messing it up? A. We used a blower to keep the area clean. It was super easy. 🙂 Q. “How many stones did it take to construct this? A. All of the details (including the exact number of stones) with extra tips and a step-by-step tutorial are in my blog post.

00:20GO to my Profile + tap 🔗 + type “DIY Wood Bead Candle Holder” into the search bar. I'm continuing my endeavor to use up some of my craft supplies! For this DIY Wood Bead Candle Holder, I used some leftover rope from my heart & bunny coaster tutorials and wood beads from 6 different DIY wood bead projects. While you can use dried or faux flowers in the wood beads, I opted for fresh flowers that I knew would dry beautifully. I created this little DIY Wood Bead Candle Holder two months ago and it still looks beautiful! I left the candle lit while working on this little project so you could see how I let it create a candle wax memory (I also scooped the soft candle wax out with a spoon) so I could put a flameless tealight candle in the center. Have you tried this flameless candle hack?
00:13GO to my Profile + tap 🔗 + type “Hyacinth Bulbs Centerpiece” into the search bar. I made a bit of a mistake when I created this Hyacinth Bulbs Centerpiece, I didn't realize you aren't supposed to let the bulbs touch the water. Thankfully I am horrible at remembering to water my plants so they survived my mistake and still bloomed. They are currently planted in my parent's yard and we plan to transport them to our new house and land next spring. I'm a little worried they were sitting too long in the water at the end when I took the final pictures. So we will find out next spring if they survived and hopefully, my mistake will help others! What's a garden blunder you've learned from that can help others?
00:13GO to my Profile + tap 🔗 + type “5 Book Lovers Gift Ideas” into the search bar. Once upon a time, I was a little girl obsessed with reading to the point that my parents would ground me from reading. After I got married I thought my reading troubles were behind me, but little did I know that my husband would occasionally tease me by hiding my books. While I could be cross with him, we are currently building a house with a library room. He has promised that the first project we will tackle once moving in is building bookshelves for all my books along with a rolling library ladder. So while I wait, I am gathering some fun accessories for my library. Which one is your favorite? P.S. Would you like a part 2?
00:25GO to my Profile + tap 🔗 + type “How to Hang Glass Jars” into the search bar. This summer is our 12-year wedding anniversary! If you’ve been around since I started blogging in 2013 then you may recall that my mom and I (with a whole lot of help from friends and family) did a plethora of DIYs for our backyard wedding. From book paper wreaths to DIY doily cones filled with popcorn and nuts as a pre-wedding treat (if you do a deep dive on my blog you’ll find many of these crazy old and poorly photographed tutorials). And if you haven’t quite guessed, it was very much so your typical shabby chic backyard wedding, which was all the rage in the early 2010s. But I will admit, my mom went all out with the decor (we did a lot of antiquing) and my father spent countless hours working on their yard. While my style has greatly changed since the days of shabby chic, I still have a love for glass jars (with a very large collection hidden in different cabinets and containers). And while we used real candles in the jars at our wedding/reception (the base was filled with sand), I decided to opt for battery tea light candles this time around along with some fresh flowers. Which way is your favorite? Do you like these glass jars filled with candles, flowers, or both?
00:21GO to my Profile + tap 🔗 + type “Laundry Room Floating Shelves” into the search bar. I was so excited when we finished this laundry room. For the first couple of years, there was just one thin white shelf on this wall. But when Roger saw an awesome deal for these floating shelves we decided to go ahead and order them with the plan to use them in our laundry room. I knew that these shelves were going to be mostly decorative, but I also wanted to add a little bit of function. So I added some gorgeous glass jars for different-sized wooden clothespins. I also left one empty so that I have space to add something to it later. And although this room does have a window, I decided that faux plants would probably do better in this space, especially as it would be difficult to water plants on the top shelf. And to complete this side of the laundry room I added a set of 3 nesting baskets to carry laundry to our room. The big one is for Roger’s clothes, the medium for mine, and the little one for Roger’s clothes. I have some big plans for our next laundry room, which means that for the first year it will probably only consist of a washer and a dryer because my higher priorities are library shelves and living room built-ins. Oh and pantry built-ins and closet built-ins. So it might be awhile before we build out our laundry room, so for now I’ll be enjoying the memory of this laundry room space.
00:14GO to my Profile + tap 🔗 + type “Elevated Grocery Store Flowers” into the search bar. For years I have been gifting storebought flowers wrapped in tissue paper. It looks so much prettier than the standard plastic sleeves surrounding grocery store flowers and makes them feel a little bit more special. The only problem is that tissue paper can be a bit fragile and I often had to wrap them in the car right before gifting them as I was worried they would rip before being gifted. But then I saw @andeelightful version wrapped in paper and it looked so pretty! I was so inspired I decided to combine the two ways into one. And while I have a whole stash of tissue paper, I was running low on craft paper. Unfortunately, the dollar store I use to get it from was completely out of stock. I scoured the internet and read tons of reviews looking for just the right type of brown paper. So many of the ones sold online advertised that they were thick and heavy-duty. While I can see those qualities being wonderful for other projects, I really needed something thin and easy to work with for this bouquet. After much research, I found just the right one! And now I have everything I need to make bouquets for Mother’s Day, birthdays, spring/summer parties, hostess gifts, or just for fun! What’s your favorite grocery store to get flowers from?
